If the Chosen Hero will not save us, then a hero must be made.

In Backstage Hero, you must supply a lone adventurer with the items, keys, and puzzles they need to finish the dungeon and defeat the Tyrant-Moon. Count your steps carefully, and make sure you don't leave them hanging!

This game was developed by Team ElseWare in (slightly less than) ten days for the 2023 GameDev.tv Game Jam, and features original art, music, and sound, including fully voiced story slides.

  • Move: WASD
  • Wait: F
  • Skip: Esc

I love the art and music! The gameplay gives Crypt of the Necrodancer vibes, which is awesome. 


One thing I ran into: I would assign the skip-dialogue button to something other than esc, since when the game is played in browser pressing esc also exits full-screen.
